Managing Partner

Jack Fitzsimmons is the grandson of the legendary Sunny Jim Fitzsimmons, known in his time as the “Dean of American Trainers”. Jack has been exposed to all aspects of the sport of thoroughbred racing.

As a youngster, he went to the New York tracks with his father, the business manager for Sunny Jim’s stable. In college, he worked summers at Saratoga Racetrack – driving tractors between races and painting barns and fences. While in the Army, stationed in Seattle, Washington, he worked cashing tickets at Longacres Racetrack, which ran twilight races. Attending law school, he worked at Bowie, Pimlico and Laurel as a security guard and usher. In the late 60’s, he took out his trainer’s license after spending many years as a hot walker, groom and in other learning positions. His license was held for about twenty-five years in which he won races at Bowie, Pimlico, Laurel, Atlantic City, Delaware, Penn National, PARX, and Charlestown.

For the past few years, he was involved in various horse partnerships, as a partner, including Karakorum, Castle Village and Funky Munky Stables. His present move to management of a horse racing partnership is a natural next step.
